Windows 10 100% cpu usage
(make sure you have backup or a snapshot before running this task)
>>check power settings
right click windows
select settings
select system
select power & sleep
select additional power settings
select create a power plan
select high performace plan
>>check task manager
right click task bar
select task manager
select start-up tab
select and disable anything that does not need to run at start-up
(optional)
select processes tab
right click process
select open file location to see which applications the process is associated with
>>uninstall applications
right click windows icon
select settings
select apps
uninstall unneeded applications
>>notifications
right click windows
select settings
select system
select notifications and actions
turn off get tips
turn off notifications for applications where they're not needed
>>event viewer
search for event viewer
expand windows logs folder
select application
select filter current log
check boxes for error, critical and warning
select okay
use resource to investigate
(selecting warning will give details of error)
(same process can be repeated for system log)
>>services
search for services
select services
select BITS service (background intelligent transfer)
open start-up type dropdown
select disabled
select apply
>>reset computer
right click windows
select settings
select update and security
select recovery
select get started under reset this pc
options are keep files or remove everything
